About This Spot

Stepping into HAEDEUM CHARCOAL BBQ, you’re greeted by a quietly inviting atmosphere that balances warmth with a gentle buzz— the kind of energy that flows naturally between friends sharing a meal and strangers drawn in by the familiar, comforting ritual of Korean barbecue. Located in a lively corner of Pasir Ris, this spot feels like a welcoming neighborhood haven where time slows just enough to savor each moment and each bite.

The setting is unpretentious, with an understated charm that reflects the owner’s thoughtful touch—aesthetics that nod to both Korean heritage and a modern local sensibility. The grill takes center stage, crackling softly as familiar aromas begin to fill the air, inviting conversations that range from casual laughter to quiet appreciation. It’s a place that encourages sharing, teaching, and discovery, where the owner might pop over to offer guidance on how to enjoy the meal authentically, transforming the dinner into a shared experience rather than just another meal out.

Here, the food accumulates meaning through its textures and flavors rather than just the names on a menu. Marinated pork collar sizzles beautifully over charcoal, its savory edges promising the kind of depth only slow, intimate cooking delivers. The banchan — small side dishes served endlessly — appear like little gestures of hospitality, refreshing the palate between bites as you build your own perfect lettuce wrap or dig into bibimbap bursting with color and heartiness. There’s a quiet joy in mastering the dance between spicy rice cakes and tender pork trotters, each element reflecting layers of tradition and care.

Mealtime unfolds at a relaxed pace, punctuated by moments of connection—whether it’s a lesson on cooking techniques, a recommendation for a new combination to try, or simply the pleasure of lingering over steaming bowls and well-charred meat. Weekday lunches offer an unhurried gateway into this world at a more casual price, drawing in a mix of regulars and newcomers who find comfort in its straightforward authenticity.

HAEDEUM CHARCOAL BBQ isn’t about rushing through a meal; it’s about embracing the rituals and rhythms of Korean barbecue with a sense of belonging. Whether you come to indulge in a generous meat set or to share a plate of fried chicken with friends, you come away feeling noticed and gently guided through something deeply familiar yet quietly special—a reminder that food is as much about kindness and conversation as it is about flavor.

We traveled from West to East to have this bbq on Christmas Eve! Everything was yummy, especially the US meat. Korean lao ban shared that he’s an interior designer as well! So talented! He’s hired 2 Korean chef so we get authentic Korean dishes. We ordered $168 beef set, bibimbap, fried chicken and steamed egg.

The owner was amazing, very friendly and even offered to help us cook while teaching us the authentic Korean way of eating. We had a lovely conversation with the owner, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The dinner was delicious and pleasant. Strongly recommended!

Pretty decent Korean bbq. Good service and acceptable meat quality. The booth seats are slightly greasy tho. Ordered the beef and pork set and there was too much meat. They allowed us to take away which was nice.

Went for lunch. Ordered the lunch set which came with side dishes, soup/stew and meat choice plus rice for $15. Added the seafood pancake too. The owner was nice enough to pop by and explained due to high lunch crowd, had to wait a lil longer for the meal. But it was worth it. From price point and the meal provided. Would visit again.

One of the cheapest Korean lunch set I have ever eaten. And it’s really good, the generosity of side dishes, the kimchi stew and the spicy pork, all really well done All these for 15$ nett?! I wish I stay near here

I had an amazing dining experience here! The owner is Korean and you can really taste the authenticity in every dish. The beef BBQ set was absolutely outstanding – every single cut of meat was flavorful and high quality. What made it even more special was the warm service: the staff helped with grilling at the table and the owner personally shared tips on the best way to enjoy Korean BBQ. The atmosphere is welcoming, the portions are generous, and it’s clear they take pride in both the food and the service. If you’re looking for authentic Korean BBQ with top-notch quality and hospitality, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!
